| Description |
GIOGAIA, a hospitable and welcoming Bed and Breakfast located among the verdant foothills of the Iblei range of southern Sicily, is only a few kilometers away from the golden beaches of the Mediterranean, as well as on the outskirts of the historical center of the baroque town of MODICA, which is registered as a Unesco World Heritage site.
For the use of our guests, the house offers two large apartments, both with private entrances and parking. All modern comfort and amenities, such as air-conditioning and cooking facilities, are provided with the bright and ample rooms. Breakfast can be served in our spacious and comfortable dining-room, which also features an open fireplace, or, at the guest's request, on the sunlit terrace.
The fruits served at breakfast are grown in the garden and in the orchard surrounding our house and help turn our appetizing table into a rich experience of genuine and strictly home-made confections: pies, jams and preserves, biscuits, bread, orange juice, almond milk, and, of course, the celebrated chocolate of Modica. In other words: a naturally filling meal intent on providing the boost of energy required for a day dedicated to one of the many interesting touristic excursions within our region.
GIOGAIA also has a little house available for its guests in the midst of the net of picturesque narrow streets which characterizes the historical center of MODICA ALTA. This house has been recently restored and is divided into two individual appartments, with attached kitchen area and bathroom.
Touristic itineraries.
There are a number of highly interesting short trips, both from a cultural and a historical point of view, within less than a few dozen kilometers, in an area which covers all the cities belonging to the so-called "Val di Noto Baroque" (Modica, Ragusa, Scicli, Noto, Giarratana, Chiaramonte Gulfi etc.).
Within the same range of distances one reaches coastal towns (Marina di Modica, Pozzallo, Sampieri, etc.) as well as sites of archaeological interest or of great natural beauty such as the Cava d’Ispica, Vendicari and Pantalica.
Moreover, it is quite possible to take day trips to some of Sicily's major sites of interest: the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the Greek Theater of Siracusa, Caltagirone (famed for its ceramics), the Roman mosaics of Piazza Armerina, not to mention the impressive volcanic presence of the Etna and the terrace over the sea at Taormina. |
